Release Version 2.1 ...
Chinamood Reminder Version 2.1 (Full Screen) sees
the inclusion of a Diary, an Address, and Phone book held within
a database. The Diary allows simple selection of pre-recorded
dates with a built in editor to create new items. It will store,
print, import, and export files in .rtf format allowing most
editing facilities. The Address book stores both information and
photographs or related images. The Phone book is a simple edit or
display at the click of a button style interface, allowing fast
access to names and numbers as required. The Reminder still
maintains its original files and is fully compatible with any
previously saved data. Which includes the ability to add, remove,
and update lists of events. There is a calendar, a persistent
timer alarm; an ability to calculate any time passed between now
and an event or a date set by you using the simple dropdown
feature. The result is in day months and years. When reminders
are present the system tray icon will flash until checked. Add to
this a binary, hex, and decimal converter, then you have a useful
tool for students, office staff, and hobbyists.

Today's date and the number of records existing
can be seen at the top of the screen. The editor just involves
filling in one field ("Event"). Reminder performs its search
functions based on day and month. The year is not an important
factor, as Reminder only checks from the current year, for
events. The drop down dates can do much longer time searches.
You can "Add", update, or simply "Remove",
entries without fear of any duplication, and although the records
on screen change immediately, no files or records are changed
until you click the "Update List" button.
The event dates are entered via dropdown menus.
When you select a dropdown or select a name/event the "Autodater"
receives the date information. After which it's simply a matter
of clicking on "Calculate" to reveal how many days, months and
years have passed since that event or date. Depending on whether
you are using the date or events. (Events are only checked
from current year). When any dropdown button is clicked the
selected event or date is passed to the calendar and the
"Autodater" to reflect that time period, thus enabling you to see
how long since that event occurred by simply clicking the
Calculate button, and the day it occurred can be easily seen from
the calendar.
The alarm timer is set using the 24 hour clock
format, I.E. 19-30, after enabling you can simply close any
open screens and leave Reminder in the system tray to do its
work. When the time you set arrives; the screen (if closed), will
re-open, and become consistently on top of other screens. A
message will then flash ("Attention") and an alarm sound will repeat. The
screen will only close again if you cancel the reminder by
clicking the "Disable Alarm" button. All warnings will
persist for one full minute at which time only the warning
message will flash.
Diary
The diary introduced for Reminder version 2
allows simple editing facilities in order to provide improved
printouts. The editing format will only be saved with records
that are not encrypted, this is the trade off for encryption.
Date selection is Reminder style date dropdowns using the "OPEN"
icon to finalise your selection. The existing date dropdown gives
immediate access to recorded dates without the use of "OPEN". To
avoid any confusion when selecting from the date dropdown the
screen will change colour, and become disabled, the menu
"OPEN" will flash as will the
circular green button seen in the above screen to prompt you.
This ensures you do not lose any of your entries, and if you make
changes you will also be prompted to save your work. To use the
encryption simply tick the Encryption box this will provide a Key
text box immediately below.
IMPORTANT:
In the interest of security the Key you provide
will not be stored within Reminder, it is therefore
required of you to use a keyword you will always remember.
If you open a previously encrypted file without
an encryption key you will see the following message instead of
the file contents ... To view this file you need to select
Encryption and enter your Key..! After you have complied then
simply click the Open icon. If you attempt to save the file as
is, you will receive one warning that you are about to re-save an
encrypted file. If you continue, the file will be unreadable and
unrecoverable by you..! Always read the warning screens they are
there to guide you away from problems.
